Home Away From Home
Thoughts about Emigration Research
Call them „Germans“ or „the poor Palatines“. Over the last 300 years people from all over the world left their home and emigrated to North America. A lot of them came from Germany or better: what is now Germany.
I have spent years of research inemigration from his hometown St. Wendel, Saarland, in South West Germany. In 2012 and 2013 I had the chance to talk about this subject in three towns of upstate New York where most of the emigrants from my own territory settled (Livingston and Steuben County). Later the lecture was transformed into this booklet.
