Carl Nikolaus Riotte -> Castro’s Colony -> 02.01.1855 Obligation of 20,000 Dollars as Commissioner of Castro’s Colony

 

The State of Texas, County of Bexar

Know all Men by these Present, That we Charles N. Riotte as principal, and Enoch Jones and Joseph Ulrich as sureties, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Texas in the sum of twenty thousand dollars, for the payment of which, well and truly to be made, unto the said State of Texas we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Signed with our hands and sealed with our seals, the seals being scrawls, the second day of January A.D. 1855.

 

The condition of this obligation is such that, whereas, the above bound Charles N. Riotte has been appointed by E.M. Pease, Governor of the State of Texas on the 27th day of December, A.D. 1854, Commissioner of Castros Colony in place of Trowbridge War removed,

 

Now, therefore, if the said Charles N. Riotte shall well and truly, faithfully and impartially discharge the duties enjoined upon him by „an act to perfect the landtitles in Castro’s Colony“ approved 23th March 1850, and an act supplementary to said act, approved February 10th 1854,

then and in that case this obligation shall be null and void, otherwise to remain of full force and effect.
