Historical Background
Lot 95 was purchased by J. Charles Mueller from Gustavus Friesleben in 1859 (BCDR SI:143). It had previously been purchased from Charles Riotte by Charles Rossy on March 17, 1857, and then conveyed to Friesleben in 1859 (BCDR Pl:182). The low selling prices, $175 and $210, indicate that no improvements had been made. Mueller, a stone mason, probably began construction of his home (Figure 7-1) in 1859 (City Directory [CD] 1879-18
